Launch a European online casino

From the USA or LATAM, under a licence that fits your target markets. A practical guide for entrepreneurs in the Americas who want to run a licensed online casino aimed at Europe and other permitted markets: licence routes, company structure, payments and realistic timelines. It is not a way to target US players. That needs a state licence, and we do not work around it.

02Who this is for

Read this first, so neither of us wastes a call.

We would rather say no on this page than after a scoping call. The right-hand column is the honest part.

A good fit

You want to own a brand aimed at permitted markets

  • You are based in the USA, Canada or Latin America and want to own an online casino brand
  • Your target players are in Europe, in LATAM countries where the activity is permitted, or in other markets covered by your licence
  • You have a marketing plan and the budget for licence, payments and content, not only for the platform
  • You accept that a compliant launch takes weeks to months, and want a dated plan rather than a promise
Not a fit

You want a shortcut around a licence

  • You want to accept US players without a state licence
  • You want to target a regulated LATAM market such as Brazil without the local licence it requires
  • You are looking for a vendor to hold the licence and the risk while you stay anonymous
  • You need the platform to also be your legal and tax adviser; we work with yours, we do not replace them

03Licence routes

Where the licence comes from decides almost everything else.

Licence routes typically used. Platform1 is a technology provider. The licence is held by you or by a licensed partner. These are the routes founders from the Americas usually take.

Route A · WL or TK

Curaçao

The most common starting point for international brands. Available on white label through a partner licence, or as your own licence on turnkey. Requires a local company and ongoing compliance.

Route B · WL or TK

Anjouan

A lighter-weight international licence used by newer brands and crypto-first operators. Accepted by a narrower set of PSPs and studios than Curaçao; check your payment plan against it.

Route C · TK

Kahnawake

A North American jurisdiction familiar to founders on this side of the Atlantic. Suits operators who want hosting and oversight closer to home while serving permitted markets.

Route D · TK only

EU national licences

Required to serve regulated EU markets with their own regulator. Longer applications, local substance, certification of the platform. Turnkey only.

NoteWe prepare the technical documentation for licence applications and work with your legal advisers. The timeline of an application follows the regulator, not us.

04Structure

Six things to settle before the platform is configured.

Running a European brand from another continent. General guidance from projects we have delivered. It is not legal, tax or banking advice; the right structure depends on your citizenship, residency and licence, so consult your adviser before incorporating anything.

01

Company

An operating company in the licensing jurisdiction, often with an EU entity for contracts and payments. Shareholders can be abroad; some regulators require local directors.

02

Banking and PSPs

Acquirers and banks onboard the licensed company, not you personally. Expect enhanced KYC on owners and a longer onboarding than the platform setup itself. This is usually the critical path.

03

Time zones

Our engineers are in Tallinn (UTC+2/+3). Planned work is scheduled in your working hours; incidents are covered 24/7 under the SLA.

04

Player support

European players expect support in their language and evening hours. Plan an outsourced or distributed support team from day one.

05

Data

EU data residency is available on both routes with ISO 27001-certified hosting providers; useful when your players and regulator are in Europe and you are not.

06

Advisers

Licence, tax and corporate structure are your legal adviser’s work. We provide the technical documentation they ask for and introductions to licensing partners.

05LATAM specifics

If your players are in Latin America.

Many founders in the region launch a brand for their own markets. The platform supports it; the licence question is market by market.

05.1 · Payments

Local payment methods

PIX, Boleto, SPEI and regional wallets through PSPs licensed for each country, alongside cards and crypto in the same cashier.

05.2 · Front-end

Spanish and Portuguese front-ends

Front-end, bonus terms and support templates in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, with local currencies and geo-aware lobbies.

05.3 · Licence

Regulated markets need a local licence

Brazil and Colombia, among others, license operators locally and certify platforms. An international licence does not cover them. We support the technical side of local applications.

05.4 · Experience

Experience in the region

The team has shipped platforms for operators in Latin America among other regions, including local payments and Portuguese-language launches.

06Timeline

Two routes, two very different calendars.

Both figures are our implementation time. For founders abroad, KYC on owners and PSP onboarding tend to take longest; those contracts are signed by third parties and set the calendar date.

NoteWhite label: This is our implementation time, counted from a signed agreement and completed KYC. The calendar date depends on how fast contracts with payment providers and game studios are signed under the licence: that part is outside our control and usually sets the pace. Turnkey: Our implementation time. The calendar date depends on licence approval, your infrastructure readiness and how fast PSP and content contracts are signed.

Can I accept players from the United States?
Not through us. Online casino in the US is regulated state by state and requires a state licence and a locally certified platform. Platform1 does not support brands targeting US players without that licence. This page is about launching a brand aimed at Europe and other permitted markets from a base in the Americas.
Can a US or LATAM citizen own the operating company?
In most licence routes, yes: the licence is held by a company incorporated in a suitable jurisdiction, and that company can have foreign shareholders. Some licences require local directors, key personnel or substance. Ownership, tax residency and reporting are questions for your legal and tax advisers; we provide the technology and introductions, not legal advice.
Do I have to relocate to Europe?
No. White label brands are run remotely every day. A turnkey operation under your own licence may need local personnel depending on the regulator. Our support runs 24/7, so a team working on Americas hours is covered.
What about Brazil, Colombia and other regulated LATAM markets?
Markets that have introduced their own licensing, such as Brazil and Colombia, require a local licence and a locally certified platform before you can accept their players. A Curaçao or Anjouan licence does not cover them. We can support the technical side of a local application; the timeline then follows the regulator, not us.
Can the brand run on crypto?
Yes, where the licence allows it. Crypto-only or hybrid cashiers are available on both routes; see the crypto casino page. Many founders in the Americas start crypto-first because card acquiring for a new brand takes time.

Licence route first

Start with the licence and the markets.

Start with the licence and the markets, not the platform. Tell us where you are based and who you want to serve. We map the licence route, the payment options and a dated plan, then show you the platform. One form, one engineer, one business day. You get the licence route that fits your markets, or a plain "this does not work", and an itemised quote: setup, revenue share or project fee, third parties. NDA on request, no newsletters.
